So you WANT me to tell you where to go!?!

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!

That's just a little free advice for those of you who are thinking of opening your own coffee house.
But for those of you who are just looking for entertainment, these are the places I'll be hanging out at this month, at least on the nights I'm scheduled (whether or not this means there'll be entertainment on those nights is up to you to decide).

Java Joe's Yorba Ranch Strip Mall: 4973 Yorba Ranch Road; Yorba Linda; (714) 970-7988; In the Strip Mall at Yorba Linda Blvd. & Yorba Ranch Rd.
Some of you may remember my early years when I used to play at Java Joe's for the original one of a kind JOE! Well there's a new boss in town - Chuck, but he definetaly has a similar feel that Joe used to have! Nice couches, and a stage for the musicians, and an extra added bonus --- Wine! Which always makes the music sound better! Diedrich Coffee Brea Union Plaza AKA Brea ll: 2435 E. Imperial Hwy; Brea; (714) 674-0148; In the Strip Mall at Imperial & Kraemer. (I know, I know, there are 14 strip malls right there...,) But this is directly between the Home Depot & the Wal-Mart right on Imperial at the light. The best thing about this venue is the possibility that they'll allow occasional outside shows! Yeah!!
Diedrich Coffee Brea AKA Brea l: 730 E. Imperial Hwy; Brea; (714) 256-6790; In the Strip Mall near Imperial & SomeOtherStreet. From the 57 FWY go West on Imperial Hwy about a half a mile and the store is on your left. This was the first Diedrich's I played at. Long and thin with lots of reflective surfaces it's great for that singing in the shower kinda quality. For a map or more info go to the Diedrich Coffee site and click on the store locator link. The best thing about this venue is the employees like it loud! And there's a nice large patio outside for the people that would rather just talk.
Diedrich Coffee Tustin: 13681 Newport Avenue; Tustin; (714) 832-7030; This is probably the most manic/depressive site of them all, half the people are wanting me to turn it up..., the other half (the ones who sit with their laptops right next to the speakers!!!) want it turned down. Whoever complains to the employees the most gets their way. Me...? I just pretend to change the settings and leave it all the same. I haven't found an easy way to get there yet, turn here, u-turn there, hit hyper-speed for 3.2 seconds..., so for a map or more info go to the Diedrich Coffee site and click on the store locator link.
Diedrich Coffee Laguna Beach: 180 North Coast Highway; Laguna Beach; (949) 497-7660; This place is tough to find parking at, but easy to find. Do what I do and go to the Diedrich map site it's easier than my trying to tell you where it's at, but once you've found it, you'll never forget it! What's interesting about the gigs though, is that it's a lot of work to get set up, hard to get an audiences attention, and even more taxing trying to get out and go home. But the view!!! Diedrich Coffee Costa Mesa AKA Mesa North: 1170 W. Baker St; Costa Mesa; (714) 432-0747; Okay, I'll have to fill you in on this site some other time..., Cause even though I played here a couple of months ago..., I remember nothing about it! I'm sure it'll all come back to me as soon as step inside, but that won't do you any good for right now. So all I can suggest is to go to the Diedrich site for all the stuff I can't give you yet. Diedrich Coffee Crown Valley: 27680 Marguerite Parkway; Mission Viejo; (949) 347-0225; This is kind of a cool hideaway location. It's tucked into it's strip-mall in a weird spot so you kinda have to look for it. Take the 5 FWY south and exit Crown Valley Prkwy, go Left until you reach Marguerite then go Right, at the very next light 'Center' do a U-turn, enter the first driveway and you'll see the store on your left. I'll be hidden on the back side of the store where you can't see me until you've come halfway down the bar. Oh, but you'll hear me!
Diedrich Coffee Costa Mesa Promenade AKA COSTA MESA ll: 250 East 17th Street; Costa Mesa; (949) 722-1709; This is an easy site to find! As you make your left onto 17th from Newport Blvd. you go down just about a half a mile and look on your left. But don't get confused because 2 and a half blocks later is a different Diedrich that's much tougher to find. Make sure you're at the right one! Diedrich Coffee Costa Mesa AKA COSTA MESA l: 474 East 17th Street; Costa Mesa; (949) 646-0323; This is a tough site to find! As you make your left onto 17th from Newport Blvd. you go down just under a mile and look on your left. I think there's a Wendy's right next to it, but you're looking for the fast food entrance to find parking. This isn't in a strip mall it's more like an office building which disguises it a lot! But don't get confused because 2 and a half blocks before this site is a different Diedrich that's much easier to find. Make sure you're at the right one! Diedrich Coffee Irvine Crossroads: 3972 Barranca Parkway; Irvine; (949) 559-4920; Okay, I vaguely remember a dream in which I wanted to play here years ago. Don't remember if it actually happened or not, but it was a cool dream with Vikings and Unicorns, and topless mermaids. Diedrich Coffee Orange Plaza: 44 Plaza Square; Orange; (714) 288-6221; Okay, I actually remember playing this one a couple times! Real Funky indoor setting - weird things on the walls, strange musicians playing strange music, a romantic (strange) need to call it a "square or plaza" instead of the Orange Circle like everyone else! The main thing about this place is..., parking can be funky. Not hard, just funky. But the atmosphere inside was kinda laid back and cool - real artsy stuff. Unless of course they changed it.
